Mustard gas was one of the most widely used chemical warfare agents during World War I and was responsible for nearly 400,000 casualties.  Known as “The King of Battle Gases”, mustard gas is a vesicant, or blistering agent, and was notorious for the horrific and disabling injuries it often inflicted.
