The Blood Agents

This class of compounds disrupts the transfer of oxygen from the blood to tissues and cells by inhibiting the cytochrome oxidase enzyme.  The agents of this class that were used in First World War were structurally rather simple: cyanogen chloride and bromide as well as the classic poison, hydrogen cyanide.
